Planning Ahead

I cannot believe it is May 1st already.  Actually, yes I can.  These past few weeks have been long, and it seems the end of the year will never arrive.  But, of course, it will.  Thank goodness.

I am so excited for the summer.  School gets out at noon on Friday, June 3.  I then have 5 days of peace and quiet in Taipei.  I am looking forward to FINALLY putting some stuff on these bare walls, cleaning out my storage room, making lists of items to purchase in the states, and finalizing plans for my trip to Japan.

On June 9th I head to Tokyo to meet Maggie.  I'll spend 9 days in Japan, mostly in Kyoto, though I'll have about 36 hours in Hiroshima and about 48 hours in Tokyo.  I know Maggie and I will have a lovely time together in that beautiful country.

On June 18th I'll return to Taipei, where I will remain for around 48 hours and then get back on a plane to Tokyo.  Crazy.  I know.  I have a 2 hour layover in Tokyo before leaving for the states...FINALLY.  I'll arrive in Atlanta on the evening of June 21.  I can't wait!

I'll be in the states for 6 weeks: 4 weeks in Atlanta, a week at IB training in New Mexico, and a week in Michigan with Betsy, John, and Alice.  Aside from quality time with friends and family, I'm looking forward to Mellow Mushroom pizza, good Mexican food, and Sunday family dinners.  Oh, and of course Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows!!!  It comes out while I'm in Michigan with Alice - sweet!!!

I'll return to Taipei on August 1st, where it will be sweltering hot.  The plan for next year?  October break on the service trip to Cambodia, Hong Kong with Tanya at the beginning of November (yay!), Thanksgiving in Hanoi, Christmas with my family, and spring break in Thailand.  I've opted out of a Chinese New Year trip, choosing instead to save for a journey to Africa next summer.

Somewhere in there I'll be working my ass off, but I'd rather not think about that right now...as work is all I ever think about when I'm in Taipei.  Which is probably why I wrote this blog.  The only purpose this post serves is to escape from thinking about work.  And now, back to work.
