Update

So here's the latest:

1.  I've heard from the American International School of Bucharest.  So close to Budapest, but unfortunately too far.  Still, I will go through the process.  Hearing from AISB made me realize the job search is officially underway, so I talked with my principal yesterday and told him I was leaving after this year.  He was understanding, and when I told him I wanted to be in a city with beautiful architecture, a river, and cafes, he immediately said "Prague."  I said, "Close...Budapest."  He smiled and said, "Yes, I see you there."  So that was affirming.  He agreed to write me a favorable recommendation, as did my Department Head.  All I need now is a cover letter, and I'm all set.

3.  The Cambodia trip is coming along, though not without difficulties.  I will be happy when we get to Cambodia, but I'll be pretty miserable until then...too much organizing.  You wouldn't believe how difficult it is to deal with passports and visas for students from several different countries. Details, I hate details.

4.  Fiddler on the Roof is doing great...I guess.  Ha!  I've not been to one rehearsal.  I am the Producer, so my job is the poster, tickets, t-shirts, etc.  I actually hate the business end of it (too many details, of course), but I wanted to be a part of the production, and I didn't want to go to rehearsals, so here I am.

5.  I went to a Shakespeare Production this weekend - the one I was supposed to be in:  "Open Your Ears."  30 of my 68 students went, and about half of them actually liked it.  I brought a group of teachers, including our Scholar in Residence:  "Mathemagician" Dr. Arthur Benjamin.  What a fascinating guy!  He asked me my birthday while we were in the cab and proceeded to tell me about 1/2 second later that I was born on a Wednesday, which for some reason I find quite fitting for me.  Anyways, back to the Mathemagician - he's been here for nearly a month.  I gave him a suitcase (sorry Betsy, your 1986 blue vault-like suitcase now belongs to a world-renowned mathemagician).  He's cool.

6.  I got front row tickets to see Sting on December 1st and the Taipei Arena.  I've actually seen Sting before, about 20 years ago, but he's pretty timeless and Cory is a huge fan of his music, so there's a group of 6 of us going.  It'll be fun to see Sting in Taipei...just because, if you'd told me 5 years ago I was going to see Sting in Taipei, I would have laughed it off as ridiculously impossible.  Yet here I am.

7.  Tomorrow during my planning periods (I'm free on A Days from 9:15am to 2:15pm...sweet!) I'm heading down to the American Institute of Taiwan to get 24 more pages in my passport.  Yup, I only have 3 pages left and Cambodia and India require a minimum of 3 pages because they have full page visas.  Going to AIT is a big fat pain in the ass, but if I'm lucky these 24 pages will last me until my passport expires in 2018.  Actually, I'd be lucky if they didn't last either because that would mean that my life has been an exciting adventure, so I'm happy either way.

8.  I'm having a very difficult time keeping up with 3 preps.  The grading is becoming difficult, and I'm finding that Henry IV Part I is not as interesting to teenagers as it is to me.  I'm dreading October when all the IB stuff really starts to hit hard.  But it's amazing how I have grown used to the Asian work ethic.  It took 2 years, but damn if I can't churn out some stellar work at warp speed.

9.  I am getting cold, so this afternoon/evening has been rather useless.  I've taken 2 Zicam and 1 Emergen-C.  Now for a good night's sleep!

10.  I rejoined SPACE yoga, and I joined a pilates studio that just opened up across the street.  I do yoga 2-3 times a week and pilates 2 times a week.  I also do the Yangminshan stairs 1-2 times a week.  I'm determined to look good in Bhumiyama.  Of course, this cold has put a damper on things, but that's okay.  I'll get back into workouts when it passes.

11.  I think I'm going to do the Inca Trail up to Machu Picchu and dive in the Galapagos this summer.  We shall see...

12.  I am, as always, grateful for finding this life of teaching overseas.  I get in bed every night feeling that my day has been good and meaningful, and I wake up every morning with a happy heart, excited for the adventure of the day.
