Getting ready for Africa...
Today I did a test run with my diomox. Side effects = tingling all over (mostly face, head, fingers and toes), feeling extremely foggy headed/heavy headed, and feeling a little drowsy. Oh, and I peed 7 times in 2 hours. No GI issues, no vomiting, and no headaches - at least not yet and it has been 4 hours. In all, I'm pleased with the way my body reacts to the meds. My plan is to begin taking them after lunch on the first day.
I also did a test run with my new Teva's. This is the 3rd pair of outdoorsy sandals I've tried in the last year. And I failed yet again. I walked for about 1 hour this afternoon, and I have blisters from the straps on both feet. Ugh! I'll bring them anyways, as I'll only need them for the safari, so I won't be doing that much walking.
Finally, I bought extra batteries and SD cards for both my cameras. I am only bringing my small camera up Kili, and I'll have 2 batteries for the entire 6 day excursion. I know that would never be enough for my mother, but it's going to have to be enough for me.
Oh, and Sarah brought me a gift today: tiger balm and big band aid thingys for blisters (how convenient!), and Nancy brought me her Camel Back bladder. All that's left to purchase now is one more moisture wicking t-shirt.
I grow increasingly nervous each day...in a good way!
